FG targets 20,000 jobs annually as Shettima flags off Nigeria jubilee fellows programme 2.0

The federal government says it is targeting the creation of at least 20,000 jobs every year through the second phase of the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP), a flagship youth employment initiative connecting high-potential graduates with practical work experience, training, and mentorship.

Vice-President Kashim Shettima will on Wednesday, October 22, in Abuja, formally launch the NJFP 2.0 and declare open a high-level policy dialogue on job creation with the theme From Skills to Jobs and Enterprises: Driving Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship in Key Economic Sectors.”

Ahead of the official flag-off, the vice-president, on Monday, inaugurated the project steering committee of the NJFP 2.0, charging members to ensure the programme is inclusive and that opportunities reach all parts of the country.

Coordinated by the office of the vice-president, the NJFP is implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and funded by the European Union (EU).

Launched in 2022, the programme was designed to bridge the gap between skills, jobs, and enterprise, and has so far empowered over 14,000 young Nigerians through 12-month paid fellowships that provide hands-on experience, confidence, and sustainable career paths.

The second phase seeks to scale up opportunities, align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, and promote a stronger link between education, employability, and entrepreneurship.
