Ibadan stampede: Court fixes Jan 13 to rule on ex-queen, Oriyomi Hamzat’s bail application

Counsels to the ex-queen, Hamzat and Abdullahi filed a summons of application for bail before the court.

The Oyo high court sitting in Ibadan, the state capital, has fixed January 13 for the ruling on the bail applications filed by Naomi Silekunola, an ex-queen of Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife; Oriyomi Hamzat, the owner of Agidigbo FM; and Fasasi Abdullahi.

The trio are being remanded in Agodi correctional facility in Ibadan following the stampede that claimed over 30 lives at a funfair organised for children at Islamic High School in the Bashorun area in December 2024.

Counsels to the ex-queen, Hamzat and Abdullahi filed a summons for bail before the court.

Hearing the application on Tuesday, K.B. Olawoyin, the presiding judge, adjourned the ruling on the bail application till January 13.

The defendants were represented in court by Waheed Olajide, Musibau Adetunmbi, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), and Adekunle Sobaloju (SAN).
