NELFUND gives final 48-hour window for institutions to complete student verification

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced a final 48-hour reopening of its portal to allow tertiary institutions yet to complete their student verification exercise to do so.

In a statement on Friday, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, NELFUND’s director of strategic communications, said the portal would be accessible from 12 am on Sunday, October 12, to 12 am on Tuesday, October 14.

She said the extension aims to ensure that all eligible students are duly verified by their respective institutions as part of the ongoing 2024/2025 NELFUND loan application process.

“Institutions are strongly advised to make full use of this final opportunity,” the statement reads.

“Failure to complete the verification process within the stipulated period will result in forfeiture of participation in the current loan cycle — a situation that will disadvantage their students, who are the ultimate beneficiaries of the scheme.”

She added that, in the interest of transparency and accountability, the list of defaulting institutions would be published.

Oluwatuyi reaffirmed the NELFUND’s commitment to promoting equitable access to higher education through efficient, transparent, and inclusive management of the loan scheme.
