Eyesan: Collaboration key to building resilient Nigeria’s upstream oil and gas sector
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) says deeper collaboration among industry stakeholders is essential to building a resilient and sustainable upstream oil and gas sector.
Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, chief executive of the commission, spoke on Monday at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Annual International Conference and Exhibition (NAICE 2026) in Lagos.
Eyesan said collaboration remains central to the commission’s regulatory approach, citing NUPRC’s monthly engagements with industry leaders and extensive consultations in developing regulations, guidelines and other regulatory frameworks.
“We firmly believe that resilient energy systems, sustained investment and long-term growth can only be achieved through strong partnerships,” she said.
Eyesan said the global energy landscape is evolving rapidly due to geopolitical developments, climate considerations, technological disruption, artificial intelligence, changing investment priorities and rising energy demand.
She said the changing landscape requires both regulators and industry operators to adapt while taking advantage of emerging opportunities.
“These changes also present tremendous opportunities for countries that are prepared to adapt, innovate and work together,” she said.
