NDC shifts inauguration of Obi-Kwankwaso campaign council to October 26

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) says it has postponed the unveiling and inauguration of its presidential campaign council from October 20 to October 26.

Osa Director, national publicity secretary of the NDC, said in a statement issued on Monday said the postponement was due to the tight schedule of Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate, who has an important engagement overseas.

Director apologised on behalf of the NDC for any inconvenience caused by the postponement.

The event was initially scheduled for Tuesday, October 20, but will now hold on Monday, October 26, 2026.

The NDC spokesperson urged party members and supporters to remain focused on securing victory for Obi and other candidates in the forthcoming presidential and general election.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this shift and urge everyone not to lose focus on the goal of ensuring victory for our presidential candidate and all NDC candidates in the forthcoming presidential and general elections,” the statement reads.

The postponement comes days after the party announced plans to inaugurate its National Campaign Council as part of preparations for the 2027 general election.

The council is expected to coordinate the party’s campaign activities ahead of the polls.
