DSS arrests suspected gunrunner, recovers 832 rounds of ammunition in Cross River

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested a suspected gunrunner, Kelvin Ebikeniye Dugo, in Cross River state.
The suspect was apprehended on Monday at Ivara Esu Estate in Odukpani LGA following intelligence on his alleged plan to procure a large cache of ammunition.
Security sources said Dugo was intercepted shortly after receiving 832 rounds of live ammunition, which were concealed in food items.
Two empty AK-47 magazines were also recovered during the operation.
The sources added that the ammunition was allegedly supplied by another suspected gunrunner identified as Azenda Barnabas, also known as Jagaban, based in Aliade, Benue state.
According to the sources, the arrest is part of ongoing efforts by the DSS to dismantle illegal arms networks and curb the proliferation of weapons across the country.
They noted that the agency has intensified operations nationwide, targeting individuals involved in gunrunning and related criminal activities.
