EFCC detains 10 officers over alleged theft of operational items

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has detained 10 of its officers for alleged theft of some operational items.
Dele Oyewale, the EFCC spokesperson, said in a statement on Wednesday that the officers were arrested last week in connection with the theft of some operational items that they could not account for.
Oyewale added that the 10 officers detained are from the Lagos zonal command of the agency.
“The officers, who were arrested last week on the directives of the Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede are answering questions related to the theft of some operational items that they could not account for,” the statement reads.
“Investigators are making good progress and those found culpable will be subjected to internal disciplinary processes.”
On Monday, the EFCC said it has dismissed 27 officers from its workforce over allegation of gross misconduct and fraudulent activities.
The EFCC had recently dismissed 27 officers from its workforce following the recommendation of the staff disciplinary committee of the which was ratified by Ola Olukoyede, chairman of the commission.
Olukoyede reiterated the commitment of the Commission to zero tolerance for corruption, warning that no officer is immune to disciplinary measures.
