Dino Melaye: PDP commercialsied, privatised under Damagum

In a post on his X handle on Saturday, the former lawmaker alleged that the current leadership of the party has destroyed it.

Dino Melaye, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Pary (PDP) in the November 2023 governorship election in Kogi, says the opposition party has been commercialised and privatised.

In a post on his X handle on Saturday, the former lawmaker alleged that the current leadership of the party has destroyed it.

Melaye accused Umar Damagum, the acting national chairman of PDP, Samuel Anyawu, the national secretary and Umar Bature of detroying the party.

“End of the road for PDP as Damagun, Bature and Anyanwu irredeemably destroyed the party. We will talk about the commercialisation and privatisation of PDP. PDP is now once upon a time,” he wrote.

Before this allegation, the PDP lawmakers in the house of representatives had raised serious allegations against Damagum and Anyanwu.

The lawmakers, under the aegis of the opposition coalition, accused the party leaders of a covert plot to sabotage the PDP by aiding defected former members of the Rivers state house of assembly with legal backing to attempt to impeach the Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

In his response during the inauguration of the PDP national reconciliation and disciplinary committees in Abuja on Thursday, Damagum warned that he would not be intimidated to vacate his position as the party’s acting national chairman.

Damagum berated those spreading misinformation about the party’s national working committee (NWC) operations, adding that those calling for his resignation were only enhancing his popularity
