Benue assembly elects suspended lawmaker as new speaker

Berger Emberga, a suspended member of the Benue state house of assembly, has been elected as the new speaker.
Emberga, who is a member representing Makurdi north state constituency, was among the four lawmakers recently suspended for three-months by the house.
He was elected as the new speaker during an emergency sitting presided over by Lami Danladi, the deputy speaker on Sunday.
Emberga’s election follows the resignation of Aondona Dajoh, the immediate former speaker of the house.
The Times of Abuja reported that Dajoh tendered his resignation on Sunday.
Dajoh said his resignation was done in faith and in the best interest of the state.
