inDrive, a global ride-hailing platform operating in nine African countries, is celebrating the Ramadan season with a driver appreciation initiative in Abuja tagged the “Ramadan Shukran campaign.”

The programme is designed to recognise active Muslim drivers on the platform by providing curated food hampers and personalised thank-you cards as a gesture of appreciation during the holy month.

The initiative aims to strengthen the company’s relationship with its driver community at a time when many drivers continue working long hours while observing the Ramadan fast.

Unlike conventional incentive programmes, the campaign is not tied to financial rewards or performance targets but focuses on practical support and appreciation for drivers’ contributions to the platform’s daily operations.

As part of the campaign, four Abuja-based Muslim content creators are delivering 200 Ramadan hampers across key districts in the city.

The creators, selected for their familiarity with the cultural and religious significance of the period, are helping ensure the deliveries resonate with drivers observing the fast.

Each hamper contains essential items commonly used for suhoor and iftar, including staple foods and beverages typically consumed during Ramadan.

The packages are presented in Ramadan-themed packaging and include a handwritten-style card from inDrive with the message “Shukran,” an Arabic word meaning thank you.

To ensure wider reach, each content creator is assigned specific areas within the city, with deliveries scheduled around prayer times and fasting routines. The interactions with participating drivers are documented with their consent as part of the campaign’s storytelling component.

Beyond the distribution of hampers, the initiative is designed to highlight drivers’ contributions through creator-led storytelling, reinforcing inDrive’s people-first brand identity while also raising awareness among drivers who are not currently on the platform.

The Ramadan Shukran campaign reflects inDrive’s broader strategy of building stronger relationships with its driver community through culturally relevant engagement during one of the most significant periods in the Muslim calendar.

inDrive, the global ride-hailing platform, has introduced a reduced commission rate of 0.1 percent for drivers in Abuja during peak hours.

In a statement on Wednesday, Oladimeji Timothy, the country representative for inDrive Nigeria, said the initiative aims to increase drivers’ earnings and support their operations during high-demand periods.

This initiative, according to him, is designed to help drivers retain nearly all of their earnings during the busiest periods of the day, thereby boosting income and easing the pressure of rising living costs.

Timothy said the initiative, which takes immediate effect, will apply to key morning and evening rush hours throughout the week.

“As a company committed to justice, the company holds the record as the company with the lowest commission charge in the industry,” he said.

“This initiative of lowering drivers’ commission charge to only 0.1 percent, further demonstrates its compassion for the well-being of drivers.”

He added that the initiative is part of the company’s broader strategy to increase drivers’ earnings and reaffirm its commitment to fairness and empowerment.

“This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to put drivers first,” Timothy said.

“With just 0.1percent commission during peak hours, drivers in Abuja can now keep almost everything they earn, especially when demand is highest. It’s a move that puts more money in their hands when they need it most.”

inDrive is widely recognised for its unique peer-to-peer pricing model, which allows drivers and passengers to negotiate and agree on fares before the ride begins.

This approach, combined with one of the lowest commission structures in the industry, ensures that drivers maintain more control over their income compared to traditional ride-hailing platforms.

“On weekdays, the 0.1 percent commission rate applies at 7 am, 8 am, 4 pm, and 5 pm. On weekends, the offer extends further, including additional evening slots to give drivers more flexibility and higher earning potential during periods of peak demand,” Oladimeji said.

The post inDrive boosts Abuja drivers’ earnings, lowers commission to o.1% during peak hours first appeared on The Times of Abuja.
