In a statement on Friday, the FCTA said the affected property titles are located in the high-brow districts of Asokoro, Maitama, Garki, and Wuse within the Federal Capital City (FCC).

According to the administration, the decision followed several public notices issued between May and November 2025 through national newspapers, online platforms, and television stations, urging defaulters to clear their outstanding obligations or risk the loss of their titles.

In its latest public notice titled “Commencement of Enforcement Actions on Defaulters of Ground Rent Payments, Land Use Conversion Fee, C-of-O Bills,” the FCTA stated: “The general public, particularly holders of property in the FCT, are hereby notified that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, His Excellency, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, has approved the commencement of enforcement actions on a total of 1,095 properties in the Federal Capital City (FCC) for defaulting in various payments.”

The notice further explained that despite repeated publications urging compliance, the affected property holders failed to settle their liabilities, contrary to the provisions of Section 28, Subsections 5(a) and (b) of the Land Use Act, as well as the conditions governing the grant of Rights of Occupancy.

Following the expiration of a final 14-day grace period on Tuesday, 25th November, the FCTA said enforcement will now proceed on 835 properties for defaulting on Ground Rent and 260 properties for outstanding violation and land use conversion fees.
