Junior Chamber International (JCI) Nigeria has announced the top 30 nominees for its 2025 Ten outstanding young persons of Nigeria (TOYP) programme — an annual initiative that honours Nigerians aged 18–40 who demonstrate exceptional leadership and positive impact in their fields and communities.

The 30 nominees were shortlisted by KPMG Nigeria, the official audit partner, from an earlier list of 50 nominees evaluated by an independent panel between March and April.

The top 50 had emerged from 638 nominations submitted nationwide between January and February 2025.

According to Yetunde Oyeyipo, chairperson of the 2025 TOYP committee, the final selection of the top 10 honourees will be based on public voting (40%) and judges’ ratings (60%).

Public voting opens at 6:30 PM WAT on Monday, July 28, and closes at 11:59 PM WAT on August 6.

The final 10 will be honoured during a ceremony on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at EKO Hotel & Suites, Lagos, to mark the UN International Youth Day.

“These exceptional individuals are pioneering change, pushing boundaries, and driving innovation across various sectors,” said Oluwatoyin Atanda, 2025 President of JCI Nigeria.

“They truly embody leadership, service, and national development.”

Atanda also expressed optimism that some of this year’s honourees will go on to be recognized globally at the 2025 JCI World Congress in Tunis, Tunisia.

Since inception, seven Nigerians have received the global JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World award, including Ray Ekpu (1988), Dr. Modupe Osho (1996), and Temie Giwa-Tubosun (2021).

This year’s nominees span 10 categories: academic Leadership and/or accomplishment; business, economic and/or entrepreneurship accomplishment; contribution to children, world peace and/or human rights; cultural achievements; humanitarian and/or voluntary leadership; medical innovation; moral and/or environmental leadership; personal improvement and/or accomplishment; political, legal and/or government affairs; and scientific and/or technological development.

Through the TOYP program, JCI Nigeria continues to spotlight and encourage young Nigerians making meaningful change — proving that dedication and action can transform communities and inspire future generations.
