The National Examinations Council (NECO) has alerted the public to the existence of fake online recruitment portals targeting applicants seeking to serve as examination supervisors for the 2026 senior school certificate examination (SSCE) internal.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Azeez Sani, NECO’s acting director of information and public relations, said fraudsters are operating fake websites and requesting interested applicants to submit details of their academic credentials after making payments.

Sani cautioned members of the public against patronising such platforms, stressing that the council does not charge any fee for the recruitment of examination supervisors.

He explained that qualified teachers interested in serving as supervisors for the forthcoming examination should apply only through its official recruitment portal.

According to him, the recruitment process has been fully automated in line with the recommendations of the ministerial committee on the improvement of quality of Examination in Nigeria.

Sani that the council had transitioned from the analogue method of recruiting supervisors and assistant supervisors to a fully electronic system aimed at strengthening examination supervision across the country.

He stated that only qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above, who are at least 30 years old, are eligible to apply to serve as supervisors in the 2026 SSCE Internal.

The NECO spokesperson further reiterated that the recruitment process on the council’s official website is fully automated and does not require the involvement of any third party.

He said the new system would help curb fraud in the recruitment of supervisors, reduce examination malpractice, and promote fairness, transparency and credibility in the selection process.

He also disclosed that no fewer than 22,000 supervisors would be recruited to ensure the smooth conduct of the 2026 SSCE Internal examination, which is scheduled to commence on June 15, 2026.

Sani urged prospective applicants and members of the public to remain vigilant and avoid making payments to individuals or websites claiming to facilitate recruitment into the examination supervision exercise.

The post NECO warns public against fake portals for recruitment of SSCE supervisors first appeared on The Times of Abuja.
