The Joint Union Action Congress (JUAC), representing workers of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has rejected the FCTA’s claim that 10 of the 14 workers’ demands have been met.

In a statement released on Monday, JUAC said the claims by the FCTA through Lere Olayinka, spokesperson to the FCT minister, was misleading and did not reflect the actual status of negotiations.

Abdullahi Saleh, JUAC secretary, stressed that no formal agreement has been reached with the FCTA management on any of the demands presented.

“Claims of payment of wage awards, rural allowance, 2023 promotion arrears, and compliance with Public Service Rules are false, premature, and intended to misinform the public and staff,” the statement reads.

The union clarified that it has not suspended or relaxed its strike action, adding that the statement by the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD-FCTA) does not represent JUAC members.

JUAC highlighted that unresolved issues include unpaid promotion arrears, missing pension and national housing fund (NHF) remittances, illegal tenure elongation, flawed promotion examinations, staff intimidation, lack of training, and salary portal restrictions.

The union also rejected management’s attempts to shift responsibility for statutory deductions to workers, calling it “unacceptable and contrary to established public service financial regulations.”

“JUAC remains open to genuine dialogue but will not succumb to misinformation, intimidation, or divide-and-rule tactics,” Saleh added.

The union urged members of staff, the public, and media to disregard the FCTA press release and remain committed to the collective struggle until all demands are fully implemented.

The post JUAC rejects FCTA claim of meeting workers’ demands, insists strike remains lawful first appeared on The Times of Abuja.
