										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p data-start="275" data-end="694"><strong>The <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Royal Norwegian embassy</span></span> in <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Abuja</span></span>, in partnership with the <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Kaduna international film festival</span></span>, has hosted a special screening of the Oscar-nominated film <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Sentimental Value</span></span> as part of efforts to strengthen cultural exchange and creative industry collaboration between <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Nigeria</span></span> and <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Norway</span></span>.</strong></p>
<p data-start="696" data-end="931">Speaking at the event, <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Svein Bæra</span></span>, Norway’s ambassador to Nigeria, described the film’s director, <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Joachim Trier</span></span>, as “a modern master of capturing melancholy and intellectual intimacy.”</p>
<p data-start="933" data-end="1101">Bæra also highlighted the Nordic collaboration behind the production, noting that the project reflects the region’s commitment to storytelling and artistic cooperation.</p>
<p data-start="1103" data-end="1341"> <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Israel Audu, d</span></span>irector-general of the Kaduna international film festival, said the partnership offers both countries an opportunity to use cinema as a platform for economic growth and global perception management.</p>
<p data-start="1343" data-end="1438">“Nigeria and Norway can use cinema to bridge cultural gaps and drive social change,” Audu said.</p>
<p data-start="1440" data-end="1543">He added that the collaboration could open new opportunities for the film industries of both countries.</p>
<p data-start="1545" data-end="1813">Audu noted that <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Nollywood</span></span> remains one of the largest film industries in the world and provides employment for millions of practitioners, stressing that stronger international collaborations could further expand opportunities for filmmakers.</p>
<p data-start="1815" data-end="1914">“Both nations view film as a powerful tool for social change and national re-engineering,” he said.</p>
<p data-start="1916" data-end="2105">The comedy-drama stars <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Renate Reinsve</span></span>, <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Stellan Skarsgård</span></span>, <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas</span></span> and <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Elle Fanning</span></span>.</p>
<p data-start="2107" data-end="2271">The story follows two sisters who confront their estranged filmmaker father after the death of their mother, leading to a journey of reconciliation and rediscovery.</p>
<p data-start="2273" data-end="2498">The film has received nine nominations at the <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Academy Awards</span></span> in 2026, making history as the first Norwegian production nominated for the best picture category and setting a record for the country.</p>
<p data-start="2500" data-end="2645">Audu said the Kaduna festival worked with the <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Norwegian Film Institute</span></span> and the film’s sales agency to secure the screening rights.</p>
<p data-start="2647" data-end="2799">He added that organisers hope to host additional screenings during the 9th Kaduna International Film Festival, scheduled for August 25–29, 2026.</p>
