Dapo Lam-Adesina: Oyo won’t be in opposition in 2027 — APC will reclaim it from PDP

Dapo Lam-Adesina, a former member of the house of representatives, says the All Progressives Congress (APC) will take Oyo state back from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2027.
In a statement issued on Monday, Lam-Adesina, who represented Ibadan north east/south east federal constituency between 2015 and 2019, cited reforms by President Bola Tinubu as critical factors that will deliver Oyo state to the ruling party.
He noted that many states hitherto controlled by the opposition are now within the fold of APC having seen what the president is doing across the country, adding that Oyo cannot afford to be left out.
Lam-Adesina also pointed to the recent online party registration of the APC, adding that grassroots mobilisation across the 33 LGAs in the state will ensure that Oyo is delivered to the ruling party in the next elections.
“For nearly eight years now, Oyo state has been in the opposition and that does not bode well for us. With the trend across the country, we cannot afford to be in the opposition come 2027,” the former lawmaker said.
“Other states controlled by the opposition have willingly joined the APC because they know what it means to align with the power at the centre. We will make sure that Oyo returns to the progressives and also align with the federal government. We stand to benefit more from such an alignment than being in the opposition.
“What this means is that the president’s reforms are speaking for themselves and those governors have seen them.
“For us in Oyo, we must also take advantage of the president’s good governance that has seen more money being allocated to the local governments to activate grassroots development and ensure that we win the election in 2027.”
Speaking on his political career ahead of 2027, Lam-Adesina said he is still consulting with stakeholders across his constituency and the state at large.
“Consultations are ongoing and, in the days, to come, my supporters and well-wishers will know where we are heading as far as 2027 is concerned,” he said.
