A statement issued on Tuesday by Babatunde Zubairu, the assistant director of army public relations, 3 Brigade, of Kano, said troops of the joint Task Force, Tundun Wada, carried out the operation on April 20.

Zubairu said the suspect was paraded before Ahmed Tukur, the brigade commander, who celebrated the Easter festivals with troops of forward operating base (FOB) Falgore, in Doguwa LGA, Kano.

The army spokesperson noted that the commander lauded the troops for their bravery and professionalism, adding that a cache of arms, ammunition and other critical items were recovered during the operation.

He noted that items recovered included one fabricated AK-47 rifle, one dane gun, nine rounds of 9mm pistol ammunition, and one woodland camouflage uniform.

Also recovered are one desert camouflage, one woodland camouflage vest and a Bajaj motorcycle seat, suspected to be used for concealing weapons.

“The army remains dedicated to its mandate of safeguarding lives and properties. We will not relent in our efforts to bring perpetrators of criminal acts to justice,” Zubairu said.

The statement noted that the suspect was currently in custody and undergoing preliminary investigation.
