We have enough personnel to secure camps, offices, NSCDC commandant assures NYSC DG

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it is committed to the “age-long partnership with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) as one of the scheme’s collaborating agencies charged with ensuring the safety of lives and property of corps members across the country.

Abubakar Audi, the commandant-general of NSCDC, spoke in Abuja when he hosted Olakunle Nafiu, the director-general of NYSC, in his office at the corps’ headquarters.

A statement by Caroline Embu, the acting director of information at the NYSC, quoted Audi as saying that the NSCDC is duty-bound to provide maximum security for the scheme’s assets nationwide.

He noted the “impactful role of the youth-centred organisation in uniting the nation, nurturing graduate youths, and fostering integrated development of the nation’s economy”.

Audi assured the NYSC DG that the NSCDC has enough personnel to deploy to all the orientation camps, offices, and corps lodges to provide adequate security.

He added that his doors would always be “open to accommodate any request from NYSC as it relates to the provision of security”.

The NYSC DG told Audi that the visit was part of his efforts to familiarise himself with the scheme’s critical stakeholders.

Nafiu commended the NSCDC for its support of the scheme and the seamless operational synergy with other collaborating agencies of the NYSC.

He further appealed for improved synergy with its sister agencies in ensuring the security of NYSC’s assets, especially corps members.

The NYSC DG assured his host of reciprocal support when and where applicable.
