Residents of Tashar Aibo in Jibia LGA of Katsina state were thrown into mourning on Sunday after a newly married man was allegedly stabbed to death by his wife, just three days after their wedding.
According to Daily Trust, the victim, popularly known as Dan Gaske Mai Masara, was reportedly sleeping at home on Sunday afternoon when his wife allegedly attacked him with a knife, stabbing him in the neck and leaving him with a fatal wound.
Community members said the couple had exchanged marital vows on Thursday, November 18, and were believed to be settling into their new life when the tragic incident occurred.
The deceased, a well-known maize seller in the area, was widely described as humble, peaceful and hardworking.
Heartbroken neighbours gathered around his shop as news of his sudden death spread across the community, many struggling to come to terms with the shocking development.
Local residents expressed deep sorrow and prayed for the repose of his soul while calling for a thorough investigation.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities have yet to make an official statement. Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing are ongoing.
