61,000 candidates score five credits as NABTEB releases June 2025 exams

The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has released the results of its 2025 in-school National Business Certificate/National Technical Certificate (NBC/NTC) examinations, recording a 37 percent increase in enrollment compared to 2024.
Announcing the results in Benin city, Edo state capital, on Thursday, Mohammed Mohammed, NABTEB registrar, said 92,875 candidates registered for the June/July examinations across 1,892 centres, against 67,751 candidates in 1,708 centres in 2024.
Out of the total enrollment, Mohammed said 89,621 candidates were graded, representing 96.5 percent, noting that 61,104 candidates (68.18 percent) scored five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics.
The NABTEB registrar said the performance surpasses the 2024 results, when 44,000 candidates (65.34 percent) achieved the same benchmark.
He added that about 80,000 candidates passed English and Mathematics, while overall pass rates stood at 93.1 percent in English and 94.6 percent in Mathematics.
“This year’s results show significant improvement over 2024, with more candidates passing Mathematics but slightly fewer achieving credit passes in English,” he said.
The registrar also noted a decline in cases of examination malpractice. In 2025, 435 candidates (0.47 percent) were involved in 516 incidents, compared to 349 candidates (0.52 percent) and 524 incidents in 2024.
Mohammed highlighted the growing importance of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in equipping Nigerian youths with skills for the 21st-century economy.
He praised the Federal Ministry of Education and NABTEB staff for supporting initiatives that align with President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda on youth empowerment.
Registration for the 2025 November/December NBC/NTC and advanced-level examinations has commenced on the NABTEB portal and at state and zonal offices.
