NYSC DG to corps members: Use social media responsibly

Olakunle Nafiu, director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), says corps members should exercise caution and responsibility in their use of social media.

The DG issued the warning while addressing the 2025 batch ‘C’ corps members at the NYSC Delta state orientation camp, Issele-Uku.

He noted  that negative posts by any corps member on social media could attract disciplinary sanctions.

Nafiu encouraged them to instead produce content that positively highlights both the NYSC and Nigeria.

He also cautioned against unauthorised travel, advising:

“Follow simple instructions, be obedient, participate fully in your biometrics and community development Service, respect the cultural values of your host communities, and do not misrepresent us at your place of primary assignment,” he said.

Earlier, the NYSC Delta state coordinator,  John Kwaghe, presented a camp situation report to the DG.

He confirmed that 2,101 corps members—944 males and 1,157 females—have been deployed to the state in the new batch.

Kwaghe noted that camp activities were proceeding smoothly, with all officials and corps members demonstrating a high level of discipline.
