BREAKING: Security forces rescue all abducted Oyo pupils, teachers, kill nine kidnappers

All the schoolchildren and teachers abducted during coordinated attacks on three schools in Oyo state have been rescued by a joint security team comprising the Nigerian Army, the Police and the Department of State Services (DSS).
Security sources said the victims were rescued during an intelligence-led operation carried out in the early hours of Friday.
According to the sources, at least nine of the kidnappers were killed during the operation, bringing to an end the nearly two-month captivity of the pupils and their teachers.
The victims are currently being taken to Ibadan, where they are expected to meet with Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State.
The schoolchildren and teachers were abducted on May 15, 2026, when armed men, reportedly linked to a Boko Haram faction, attacked three schools in the Yawota and Ahoro-Esiele communities of Oriire LGA.
A total of 39 pupils and seven teachers were kidnapped during the raids.
One of the abducted teachers, Michael Oyedokun, a mathematics teacher at Community High School, Ahoro-Esiele, was later beheaded by the kidnappers.
