PHOTOS: Oyo takes delivery of N7.76bn two surveillance aircraft

Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo, on Tuesday announced that the state has taken delivery of two surveillance aircraft procured at the cost of N7.6 billion.

“Today, we took delivery of the two DA42MN-G aircraft procured by our administration for security surveillance and reconnaissance missions in Oyo State,” Makinde wrote in a Facebook post.

“We are grateful to the officers of the Nigerian Air Force who have provided support and guidance throughout this process, and we look forward to continued collaboration on the security of our dear State and nation.”

Dotun Oyelade, commissioner for information, announced the arrival of the aircraft at Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan, the state capital, saying they would strengthen aerial surveillance, intelligence-gathering and rapid security response across Oyo and neighbouring states.

Oyelade said the state government had assured residents last week that the aircraft would arrive in Oyo before the end of July, adding that the latest development had fulfilled that promise.
