The Federal Fire Service (FFS) and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen fire safety and emergency preparedness across customs facilities nationwide.
The agreement was signed on Thursday at the NCS headquarters in Abuja during a working visit by Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, controller-general of the FFS.
The MoU provides for the establishment of fire stations and other fire safety measures across customs facilities to improve the protection of personnel, infrastructure and critical assets.
Adeyemi described the partnership as an important step towards strengthening fire prevention and ensuring prompt response to emergencies within Customs formations across the country.
He urged ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), as well as other public institutions, to prioritise fire safety and collaborate with the Federal Fire Service to protect lives, assets and critical infrastructure.
The Federal Fire Service said the partnership is expected to enhance fire prevention, preparedness and emergency response across Nigeria Customs Service facilities.
