PHOTOS: Shettima visits Minna over deaths of ’37 illegal miners’, announces FG’s N250m donation to families

Vice-President Kashim Shettima on Thursday visited Minna, the capital of Niger state, to commiserate with the government and families of 37 suspected illegal miners who died in the custody of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) last month.
In a Facebook post, the vice-president said he assured the families of the victims that the federal government would get to the root of the tragedy and ensure that anyone found culpable faces the law.
“Today, I paid a condolence visit to Minna, the Niger State capital, where I conveyed the sympathies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, the bereaved families, and the people of the state over the death of 37 suspected miners,” Shettima wrote.
“In my remarks, I assured the families of the 37 suspected miners who died in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger State that the Federal Government will get to the root of the tragedy and ensure that anyone found culpable is held accountable.
“I also announced the Federal Government’s donation of ₦250 million to the families of the deceased.”
