Abba Yusuf orders closure of Kano MDAs bank accounts
The governor directed that all the MDAs' accounts should be merged into a single treasury account.

Abba Yusuf, the governor of Kano, has ordered the closure of all bank accounts operated by the ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) in the state.
Speaking at a meeting held at the government house in Kano on Wednesday, the governor directed that all the MDAs’ accounts should be merged into a single treasury account.
Yusuf said the decision was necessitated by the financial irregularities observed in various ministries and agencies.
“The government has taken this step to ensure that funds are managed properly and to eliminate any avenues for financial misconduct,” he said.
He warned that failure by any ministry or agency to comply with the directive within one week would attract legal actions.
Speaking also, Zayyid Abubakar, the chairman of the Kano state Internal Revenue Service (KIRS), said the system would help to boost the revenue and curb the misappropriation of government funds.
Abubakar unveiled a new plan for tax collection under the unified treasury account system.
