38 abducted Kwara worshipers regain freedom

Thirty-eight worshipers abducted at Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, in Ekiti LGA of Kwara state, have regained their freedom after a coordinated operation involving multiple security agencies and direct intervention from President Bola Tinubu.
AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, governor of Kwara, announced the development on Sunday, describing the rescue as the result of “many days of hard work” by security forces and government representatives.
He said the president’s “hands-on approach” played a decisive role in securing the release of the abductees.
According to the governor, President Tinubu personally led the efforts, cancelling his scheduled trip to the G20 meeting in South Africa to focus on the security breaches in Kwara and Kebbi states. He also ordered heightened security deployments to Kwara, including the dispatch of four new police tactical teams.
AbdulRazaq expressed gratitude to the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Intelligence Agency (NIA), and the Nigeria Police Force for their roles in the operation.
He also acknowledged the support of community leaders, religious institutions and residents of Kwara State throughout the ordeal.
The rescued victims were freed on Sunday, November 23.
Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, issued the statement confirming the development.
