Dangote launches N100bn annual education support scheme to boost learning nationwide

The Aliko Dangote Foundation has launched a N100 billion annual education support programme aimed at expanding access to quality learning and strengthening educational outcomes across Nigeria.

Speaking at the launch on Thursday, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, described the initiative as a remarkable investment in the future of Nigerian children, noting that the programme reflects what is possible when the private sector commits to national development.

Sanwo-Olu said the intervention would have far-reaching impact on classrooms, teaching capacity, and community-level learning environments.

“This is a remarkable investment in the potential of our young people,” he said.

“It shows what is possible when the private sector steps up with commitment and when we work together to expand opportunities for every child.”

The governor reaffirmed Lagos state’s commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen the education ecosystem, empower teachers, and equip pupils with critical learning tools.

“In Lagos, we will continue supporting initiatives that strengthen learning, empower teachers, and give our students the tools they need to succeed. Education remains the foundation of a stronger economy and a more secure and hopeful future,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu added that he looked forward to seeing the difference the N100 billion programme would make in schools and communities across the country.

The Aliko Dangote Foundation’s education support programme is expected to cover scholarships, school infrastructure, teacher training, learning materials, and capacity-building partnerships to improve long-term educational outcomes.
