PHOTOS: EFCC, immigration repatriate 51 foreign nationals jailed for cybercrime

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in collaboration with the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), has repatriated 51 foreign nationals convicted of cyber-terrorism and internet fraud.

The group comprises 50 Chinese nationals and one Tunisian, bringing the total number of repatriated convicts to 102 since the exercise began on August 15.

The convicts were among 192 foreign nationals arrested in Lagos during a sting operation, following intelligence on the activities of one of the largest foreign-led cybercrime syndicates operating in Nigeria.

Authorities said further deportations will be carried out in the coming days.
