Former Benue speaker suspended over ‘plot to impeach’ Alia

The Benue state house of assembly has suspended Aondona Dajoh, the immediate past speaker, over an alleged plot to mislead other members to impeach Hyacinth Alia, the governor.
Dajoh, who announced his resignation on Sunday, was suspended for three months.
His suspension followed the motion moved by Terna Shimawua, the lawmaker representing Kyan state constituency, and seconded by James Umoru from Apa state constituency at plenary on Tuesday.
Shimawua, who moved the motion, was among those suspended last Friday by Dajoh before his resignation as speaker.
Alfred Emberga, the newly elected speaker who ruled on the motion, reduced Dajoh’s suspension from six to three months.
The assembly equally lifted the suspension earlier placed on the chairman of the state universal basic education board (SUBEB) and two other government officials.
