Lagos leads as TRCN releases 2025 professional exam results

The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) says Lagos state has the highest number of candidates who passed in the 2025 batch ‘A’ professional qualifying examination (PQE).

The TRCN said it conducted the qualifying examination for 12,874 teachers between May 15 and 17 nationwide.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Jacinta Ezeahurukwe, the director of TRCN certification and licensing, said 8,705 candidates (67.62%) passed, while 4,169 (32.38%) failed the examination.

“A total of 13,782 candidates registered for the examination, with 12,874 (93.4%) participating in the exam and 908 (6.6%) absent,” the statement reads.

“The results showed that 8,705 candidates (67.62%) passed, while 4,169 (32.38%) failed. Notably, Lagos State emerged as the leading state with an impressive pass rate of 80.0%, followed by Edo State at 73.3% and Niger State at 69.2%, while the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) ranked fourth at 68.3%”.

The council said the examination encountered challenges like low digital skills among some teachers, which affected their performance.

TRCN said that it is working towards setting up digital literacy training for teachers, a curriculum guide and past questions online to address this issue.

It directed candidates who participated in the examination to check the status of their results online at www.fron.gov.ng or www.trcnigeria.ng, adding that they can also visit any TRCN state or liaison office.

It further pointed out that the validity of the examination results for certification is for a year from the date of this publication.

TRCN urged candidates who did not pass to equip themselves through ICT trainings and pedagogical upskills and register for the November batch.
