NEMA: 165 dead, 82 missing as floods hit 19 states in 2025

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) says 165 people have died and 82 others are missing due to flooding across the country so far this year.
According to data from its dashboard, NEMA revealed that 119,791 people have been affected by floods in 2025. The agency also recorded 138 people injured, 43,936 displaced, 8,594 houses damaged, and 8,278 farmlands destroyed across 43 LGAs in 19 states.
NEMA said women and children accounted for the largest number of those affected.
The dashboard breakdown shows 53,314 children, 36,573 women, 24,600 men, 5,304 elderly persons and 1,863 people living with disabilities were affected.
The states with the highest number of affected persons are Imo, Rivers, Abia, Borno and Kaduna.
The 19 affected states are Abia, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Borno, Edo, Gombe, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Ondo, Rivers and Sokoto.
