NYSC DG cautions corps members against misconduct

Olakunle Nafiu, the director general (DG) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has cautioned corps members against engaging in acts of indiscipline that could attract penalties during their service year.
Nafiu spoke at the orientation camp for the 2025 batch ‘A’ stream 1 corps members in Dakingari, Zuru LGA of Kebbi state.
In a statement issued on Friday by Caroline Embu, the acting spokesperson of the NYSC, Nafiu stressed the need for corps members to serve as good ambassadors of the scheme wherever they are posted to after the orientation exercise.
“The government places a high premium on their security and welfare and should therefore be ready to reciprocate the good gesture,” the statement reads.
He cautioned corps members against absenteeism, which could earn them an extension of the service year or remobilisation.
“Obey the NYSC Act, by-laws and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he added.
“Be dedicated and selfless in your duties. Be security conscious and don’t endanger yourselves by embarking on night and unauthorised journeys”, the DG said.
Presenting the camp report to the DG, Bala Kagarko, the NYSC Kebbi state coordinator said there are 1,165 corps members, comprising 667 males and 498 females.
