Niyi Olajide, chairman of Cavista Holdings and Agbeyewa Farms, says the company is being developed as more than a farming operation, describing it as an emerging agricultural hub focused on large-scale, sustainable production.
Olajide spoke during a recent visit to Agbeyewa Farms, where he inspected ongoing operations, assessed newly acquired tractors and farm implements, and called for greater productivity and more effective utilisation of machinery.
The visit formed part of efforts to strengthen Agbeyewa’s operations as the company intensifies its drive to build a modern, large-scale agricultural enterprise.
“What we are building here is bigger than just farming cassava. We are building an agricultural business that must be productive, efficient and sustainable,” he said.
“The investments we are making in machinery and infrastructure are deliberate, and we expect to see them translate into better productivity and stronger results.”
During the visit, Olajide received a firsthand assessment of the farm’s operations and the progress being made in translating the company’s agricultural ambitions into measurable field-level execution.
He was received by Seyi Aiyeleso, managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) of Agbeyewa Farms, alongside Dauda Lawal, director of community engagement; Vincent Olajide, senior manager, people; and other members of the management team.
Olajide toured the farm’s field activities and inspected brand-new 110-horsepower tractors recently acquired from Zoomline.
The acquisition marks a significant step in Agbeyewa’s investment in mechanisation as the company seeks to improve operational efficiency and expand its cultivation capacity.
“These tractors are not just equipment. They are investments in our ability to do things faster and cover more hectares. We need to make sure they are properly utilised and maintained,” he said.
Olajide also charged employees to remain committed and disciplined as the company expands its agricultural operations.
“Everyone working here has a role to play. Agriculture is not easy, but if we remain committed, disciplined and focused on the work, we will achieve what we have set out to achieve,” he said.
Aiyeleso appreciated the chairman for his continued investment and commitment to Agbeyewa Farms.
“We appreciate the Chairman’s continued support and commitment to Agbeyewa. The new tractors and implements will significantly strengthen our field operations and improve our capacity as we continue to expand our cultivation activities,” he said.
While acknowledging the complexities associated with large-scale farming, Aiyeleso expressed confidence in the systems and capacity being developed at the farm.
“There are challenges that come with large-scale farming, but we are building the systems, capacity and workforce required to manage those challenges and deliver on our targets,” he said.
