The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Timipre Sylva, a former fovernor of Bayelsa state and ex-minister of state for petroleum resources, wanted for alleged fraudulent conversion of US$14,859,257.

The funds are reported to be part of monies injected by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) into Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited for the construction of a refinery.

The EFCC’s public notice—signed by Dele Oyewale, the agency’s spokesperson —states the warrant was issued by a Lagos state high court on 6 November.

The notice asks anyone with useful information about Sylva’s whereabouts to contact EFCC offices across Nigeria—including Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt, or Abuja—or the nearest police station.

Sylva, aged 61 and from Brass LGA of Bayelsa state, has not yet responded publicly to the wanted notice.

He has recently been linked to the alleged coup plot against President Bola Tinubu.
