Rivers sole administrator suspends all political appointees

Ibok-Ete Ibas, the Rivers sole administrator, has suspended all political office holders and appointees in the state.
A statement issued on Wednesday evening by the sole administrator’s chief of staff announced the suspension of the appointees.
The statement said suspension will take effect immediately.
Those affected include the chief of staff to the governor, the secretary to the state government, commissioners, chairmen and members of all boards, and all special assistants.
“This suspension takes effect from Wednesday, 26 March 2025. The affected officers are to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries in their MDAs. Where there may be no Permanent Secretary, they are to hand over to the most senior Director/Head of Administration,” the statement reads.
