The 2025 Agbeyewa Cup secondary schools football championship ended in spectacular fashion on Tuesday at the Olukismet Stadium, Ikere-Ekiti, with Aramoko District Commercial (ADICO) lifting the coveted trophy after a dramatic 1–0 victory over Igogo Commercial High School.

The final, hailed by many as one of the most exciting in the competition’s history, drew thunderous cheers from the packed stands as ADICO sealed their triumph.

Moments after the final whistle, the managing director/CEO of Agbeyewa Farms,  Oska Sey Aiyeleso, and the chairman of the Ekiti state Football Association, Oluwole Oloworemo, presented the champions with a N1 million cash prize, gold medals, a gold trophy, and branded sports kits.

Igogo Commercial High School, the runners-up, received N750,000 and silver medals, while Eporo High School took N500,000 and bronze medals for finishing third. Efon High School placed fourth and earned a N250,000 consolation prize.

Speaking after the grand finale, Dauda Lawal, director of community engagements at Agbeyewa Farms, described the third edition as the most successful yet, noting that the tournament continues to serve as a platform for discovering and nurturing young football talents for local and international opportunities.

“This spectacular occasion showcased exceptional talent, sportsmanship, and teamwork among future stars who are combining education with sports,” he said.

Lawal attributed the championship’s success to the unwavering support of Agbeyewa Farms’ chairman,  Niyi Olajide, whose commitment to grassroots sports has sustained the tournament’s growth.

He added that future editions would build on the achievements recorded so far.

In recognition of his contributions to sports development in Ekiti state, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ekiti branch, conferred on Olajide the title of grand patron and presented him with an award during the event.

The stadium atmosphere was electrifying as students, football fans, and dignitaries gathered to witness the finale.

Among those present were Oba Sunday Aiku-irawo Aniyi, the Obaleo of Erinmope-Ekiti;  Olusola Osetoba, technical adviser on sports to the Ekiti state governor; Michael Omolayo, permanent secretary, ministry of education; Colonel Inusa, commandant, 148 Battalion, Nigerian Army; Wale Ojo-Lanre, director-general, Ekiti state Bureau of Tourism; as well as representatives of the NSCDC, Ekiti police command, Cavista Holdings, Glocient Hospitality, and SWAN.

A major highlight was a halftime performance by Nigerian artiste General Allen, who unveiled the official Agbeyewa Cup theme song, celebrating Agbeyewa’s identity as the world’s largest cassava farm and reflecting the cultural vibrance of Ekiti state.

The 2025 tournament featured over 150 secondary schools across the state. Dignitaries and royal fathers took turns presenting awards and commending the organizers for sustaining one of Ekiti’s most impactful grassroots sports initiatives.

Sponsored by Agbeyewa Farms, the Agbeyewa Cup continues to promote youth development, education, and community unity through football—cementing its place as one of Ekiti State’s foremost youth sports competitions.
