Ibok-Ete Ibas, the Rivers state sole administrator, has approved the appointment of a new chairman and members of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).
In a statement issued on Wednesday by Ibibia Worika, the secretary to the state government (SSG), Ibas appointed Michael Odey as the chairman of the commission, with six members.
The statement said all the appointments took effect from April 7.
Other members of the commission are Lezaasi Lenee Torbira, Author Nwafor, Godfrey Woke Mbgudiogha, Joyce Akaninwor, Olive A. Bruce and Chidi Halliday.
Ibas had last week suspended the heads of all ministries, departments, and agencies in the state, including the RSIEC, then headed by Adolphus Enebeli, a retired judge.
