PHOTOS: APM adopts Makinde as 2027 presidential candidate

Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo, has been adopted as the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) for the 2027 general election.
In a post shared on his Facebook page on Sunday, Makinde described the development as a significant milestone, saying it marked “the first step” in his bid to seek a mandate aimed at realising what he called the “Nigerian Dream.”
“With deep humility and a profound sense of responsibility, I accepted the nomination to serve as the Presidential Candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement for the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
However, the governor noted that the recent security situation in Oyo state had overshadowed what should have been a moment of celebration, describing it instead as one of “deep introspection and reflection.”
“This should have been a moment for celebration as it marks my first step in seeking a mandate that will lead to the activation and actualisation of the Nigerian Dream,” he added.
“But the recent security situation here in Oyo State has turned this into a moment for deep introspection and reflection.”
On May 15, suspected bandits abducted several pupils, students, teachers and a principal from three schools in the Oriire LGA of the state.
