APPLY: King’s College London invites applications for fully funded health scholarship for Nigerians

King’s College London, through the Afe Babalola Centre for Transnational Education, has opened applications for a fully funded foundation certificate in applied health aimed at expanding access to higher education for young Nigerians.
The initiative, announced in a statement issued at the weekend by the Afe Babalola Centre for Transnational Education at King’s College London, seeks to provide an alternative pathway to university education for talented secondary school graduates who have not secured admission into higher institutions.
According to the statement, successful applicants will study tuition-free for one year under the online programme, which is scheduled to commence on September 14, 2026.
Applications will close on June 25, 2026. The programme is open to Nigerian students who possess WAEC or NECO results with at least C6 grades in relevant subjects.
The foundation certificate in applied health will be delivered entirely online and has been designed for mobile devices with low data consumption, making it accessible to students across Nigeria, including those in underserved communities.
Participants will undertake eight core modules covering Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Data Analysis, English for Scientific and Academic Purposes, Applied Critical Thinking, and Applied Health Sciences.
The organisers said the scholarship programme was created to address barriers that often prevent young people from accessing university education, including financial challenges, geographical limitations, and personal circumstances.
The centre encouraged applications from students facing financial hardship, displacement, or significant caregiving responsibilities, noting that selection would be based on academic potential and evidence of community engagement.
In addition to academic training, participants will receive support in digital skills, employability, and entrepreneurship.
The programme will also feature a capstone project focused on developing solutions to health-related challenges within participants’ communities.
King’s College London said the initiative forms part of its commitment to widening access to quality education across Africa.
According to the institution, graduates of the programme will be better positioned to pursue undergraduate studies, diploma programmes, health-related careers, and further professional training.
Applications close on 25 June 2026. Interested students should apply through the ABC Central Hub recruitment portal at https://application.abceduonline.com/index.php, completing both the Afe Babalola Centre application and the King’s application for the foundation certificate in applied health.
Outcomes are shared on a rolling basis, with feedback provided where possible, and successful applicants will be invited to enrol ahead of the September 2026 start.
