Fubara withdraws from APC Rivers governorship primaries

Siminalayi Fubara, governor of Rivers, has withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries in the state.
In a statement on Wednesday titled “My Decision to Withdraw from the Rivers State Gubernatorial Primaries,” Fubara said the decision followed “deep reflection and extensive consultations” with family, friends, and associates.
He said his withdrawal was a “difficult but necessary” step taken in the interest of peace, stability, and unity in Rivers State, stressing that leadership sometimes requires personal sacrifice over ambition.
The governor expressed appreciation to his supporters for their loyalty and sacrifices throughout his political journey, adding that his decision should not be seen as weakness or surrender, but as conviction for the greater good of the state.
Fubara also thanked the APC for providing him a platform and acknowledged President Bola Tinubu’s support and encouragement.
He urged party members to remain united and support whoever emerges as the party’s candidate ahead of the governorship election.
