Makinde: APM will work with opposition parties to offer credible alternative in 2027

Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo state and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), says the party will collaborate with other opposition parties to present a credible alternative to Nigerians in the 2027 general election.

Makinde spoke in a congratulatory message following the APM national convention held in Bauchi, where new leaders of the party were elected.

He particularly congratulated Bala Mohammed, governor of Bauchi, whom he described as his brother, on his emergence as the national leader of the APM.

“Congratulations to all leaders of our party, the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), who were elected at today’s National Conventions,” Makinde said.

“I especially wish to congratulate my brother, HE Bala Mohammed, who emerged the national leader of APM today.”

The Oyo governor also expressed appreciation to the people of Bauchi state for hosting delegates and party members from across the country.

“Let me use this opportunity to once again, thank the good people of Bauchi State who graciously hosted all of us from different parts of Nigeria today. We appreciate your warm welcome and support!” he said.

Makinde said the APM had rapidly grown into an opposition party capable of playing a significant role in Nigeria’s political landscape.

“As I said in my remarks, in just a short time, we have emerged as an opposition party to reckon with,” he said.

He said the party’s immediate task was to build alliances with other opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general election.

“Our task is to ensure that we work with other opposition parties in Nigeria to present a credible alternative for Nigerians in the 2027 general election,” Makinde said.

The statement signals the APM’s intention to pursue broader cooperation among opposition parties as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections gather momentum.
