Malumfashi attack: Defence chief reaffirms military’s commitment to securing Katsina

 Christopher Musa, the chief of defence staff (CDS), says the armed forces of Nigeria are committed to safeguarding Katsina state and other parts of the country.

Musa spoke in Abuja on Friday when he received national assembly members from Katsina, led by Abdulazeez  Yar’Adua, chairman of the senate committee on army, at the defence headquarters.

According to a statement by Tukur Gusau, the director of defence information, the CDS pledged sustained collaboration with the legislature, noting that the military had introduced new tactics and strategies to counter evolving security challenges.

He emphasised that the ultimate objective of the armed forces is to restore peace and stability nationwide.

Earlier, the lawmakers commended the armed forces for their sacrifices in defending the country and paid tribute to personnel who had made the supreme sacrifice in the fight against insecurity.

They also briefed the CDS on the security situation in Katsina and requested additional deployment of troops and assets to address emerging threats in the state.
