The police command in Anambra says it has arrested a 63-year-old woman, Ngozi Muotuanya, over alleged child trafficking.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Tochukwu Ikenga, police spokesperson in Anambra, said Muotuanya allegedly stole a one-year-old boy from Minna, the capital of Niger state, and sold to a resident of Anambra.
“On 10th August 2025, the unaccused receiver, upon realizing that the child had been stolen, returned him to the prime suspect,” the statement reads.
“The suspect simultaneously took the child to an unascertained church in Minna where he was rescued by an Igbo community leader of the state capital.
“Thus, the police command has relayed information about the child’s guardian to the Niger state police enforcement in Minna for reunification
“The suspect shall be transferred to the State criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Awka for proper investigation and prosecution.”
