NELFUND seeks institutions’ collaboration to update, upload student records ahead of 2025/2026 session

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has called on all accredited tertiary institutions across the country to update and upload student records on its student verification portal ahead of the 2025/2026 academic session.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, director of strategic communications at NELFUND, said the move is to ensure a smooth verification and loan application process once the portal opens.

Oluwatuyi, the Fund urged institutions to upload details of both returning and newly admitted students, ensuring that each record is accurately captured using admission numbers or other unique identifiers.

“Only students whose details have been duly uploaded and verified through their respective institutions will be eligible to apply for and benefit from the loan scheme,” she said.

She added that tertiary institutions play a vital role in the success of the education loan scheme, which aims to expand access to higher education for eligible Nigerian students.

NELFUND urged institutions to designate appropriate officers to oversee the data upload process in line with provided technical guidelines.

“This collaboration is key to ensuring that no eligible student is left behind as the Fund prepares to open its application portal for the new academic session,” the statement reads.

Institutions seeking technical assistance were advised to contact NELFUND via email at data@nelf.gov.ng or through its official social media handles, including @nelfund on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, or visit the website at www.nelf.gov.ng.
