Olubadan‑in‑council nominates ex‑governor Rashidi Ladoja as 44th Olubadan

The Olubadan-In-council has nominated Rashidi Ladoja, a former Oyo state governor, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadan.

The council nominated Ladoja on Monday at its meeting held at the Olubadan palace in the Oke-Aremo area of Ibadan.

Ladoja was not in attendance during the meeting.

Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, the Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland who presided over the meeting, announced the nomination.

“We (members of the Olubadan-In-Council) have all signed and nominated Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland,” he said.

Ajibola added that the resolutions of the meeting will be forwarded to Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo state.

He stressed that the governor will pick a date to present a staff of office to the new Olubadan.

“The late Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, will be buried this week. So, this week is not feasible,”  he said.

“Governor Makinde may decide to pick three weeks, two weeks or one week.”

The Times of Abuja reported that Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the immediate former Olubadan of Ibadan, died on Monday, July 7.
