‘The speed is unmatched’ — Umahi hails progress on Abuja–Keffi road reconstruction project

David Umahi, the minister of works, says his satisfied with the pace and quality of work on the Abuja–Keffi road reconstruction currently being handled by JRB Construction Company Limited.

During an inspection visit on Monday, Umahi described the execution of the project as “top-notch”, noting that the performance of the indigenous contractor has spurred other companies working on the corridor to speed up their delivery.

JRB Construction was awarded the emergency rehabilitation of the dual carriageway in October 2025.

The project, a major infrastructure upgrade linking the Federal Capital Territory to Nasarawa state, were a large number of Abuja-based federal civil servants reside, is expected to reduce travel time and improve safety on the route.

According to the minister, the reconstruction work is scheduled for completion by the end of March 2026.

“You won’t see any difference between JRB and China Harbour, and their speed is unmatched,” Umahi said.

“This is the kind of commitment that will grow this country. Be assured that Mr President is aware of what you are doing, and you will be paid to the last kobo.”

He reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to supporting high-performing indigenous construction firms, urging more local companies to distinguish themselves through quality delivery and patriotism.

“We will continue to empower indigenous companies that have the capacity to deliver high-standard projects and contribute to national development,” he added.
