Intensify efforts to ensure lasting peace in Yorubaland, Olubadan-designate urges Ooni

Rashidi Ladoja, the Olubadan-designate, says Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, should intensify efforts in ensuring lasting peace among traditional rulers and Yorubaland.

Ladoja spoke in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, on Sunday when he received the Ooni of Ife, who paid him a courtesy visit.

The Olubadan-designate described Ogunwusi as a great unifier among traditional rulers and the entirety of Yorubaland with his servant-leader qualities.

Ladoja noted that his efforts in creating jobs for many youths through his various investments have tremendously contributed to the reduction of crime among the youths.

He charged family and village heads, popularly known as “Mogajis” in Ibadan, to emulate the leadership style of the Ooni by ensuring peaceful co-existence in their domain.

He warned that any Mogajis that failed to curb his subjects from any form of criminal acts would be held responsible.

Ladoja urged Ooni to join the list of traditional rulers who had promised to support him to be successful on the throne, particularly in his renewed commitments to ensure peace among traditional rulers and Yorubaland.

“My experience as a senator, former governor and businessman is not enough to rule as a traditional ruler. I am ready to learn from the Ooni of Ife, who has spent 10 years on the throne, and work with other traditional rulers for the progress of Yorubaland,” he said.

The Ooni of Ife described Ladoja as somebody who has seen it all, being a former governor, senator and experienced business magnate.

The monarch said he had come a long way with the Olubadan-designate and was happy to receive him in the midst of traditional rulers in Yorubaland.

He added that the Olubadan-designate’s wealth of experience would bring unprecedented progress to Ibadanland.

“We have come a long way together; our journey is not a relationship of today. That is why we have come here to show our love and support for him,” he said.

“We need to rally round ourselves to ensure unity of Yorubaland. Today is not common in history; this is my 10th year on the throne. I have never come out on a day like this in history because we have started the seclusion of our Olojo Festival today.

“I had to seek intervention from our ancestors on behalf of Yorubaland to come and show our love and support; I wish him a long life and peaceful reign.”
