FG, STRATCOMM Consulting sign MoU on youth climate, migration programmes

The federal government and Stratcomm Consulting have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen the youth migration and climate action resilience (YM&CA) department of the federal ministry of youth development.

The MoU will also see to the scaling up of youth-focused climate and migration programmes nationwide.
Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday at the signing ceremony, held in his office, Ayodele Olawande, minister of youth development, noted that the partnership goes beyond climate-related interventions, adding that it to encompasses broader development priorities, particularly in research-driven policy and strategic communication.

The minister, represented by Maryam Keshinro, the ministry’s permanent secretary, stressed that effective communication is critical to ensuring government initiatives achieve visibility, impact, and sustainability.
He said the MoU represents a forward-looking collaboration designed to harness innovation, strengthen institutional capacity, and deliver measurable outcomes for young Nigerians.

He highlighted the importance of data-driven decision-making in shaping responsive youth migration and development strategies.

Olawande reaffirmed that the initiative aligns with the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu, which promotes public-private partnerships (PPP) and inter-ministerial collaboration as essential drivers of national development.

“The ministry remains resolute in fostering strategic partnerships that empower Nigerian youths, promote innovation, and advance sustainable socio-economic growth,” the minister said.

“This agreement reflects the government’s commitment to promoting youth-led initiatives, enhancing strategic communication, and deepening evidence-based engagement in youth development programmes.”

Oyekan Adeoloyin, the director of youth migration & climate action resilience department, said the department was established in response to growing national and global challenges surrounding youth mobility, economic migration, and environmental sustainability.

According to him, Nigerian youths are not only among the most affected by climate change and migration pressures but are also critical drivers of innovative and sustainable solutions.

Adeoloyin noted that the collaboration, which includes strategic engagement with private-sector partners, is both timely and forward-looking.

The partnership, he said conforms with the federal government’s broader agenda of sustainable youth empowerment, climate responsiveness, and inclusive growth.

He also stressed the need for coordinated action across ministries, sectors, and development partners to ensure effective migration governance and strengthened climate resilience.

Kayode Olanorin, managing director of Stratcomm Consulting, described the partnership as timely and strategic, particularly at a time when collaborative efforts are essential to address emerging youth development challenges.

He commended the ministry’s innovative and diverse communication approach, noting that traditional and repetitive engagement methods are no longer sufficient.

The signing of the MoU underscores the federal government’s dedication to empowering Nigerian youths, promoting innovation, and building strategic partnerships that deliver measurable and sustainable results.
