Tunji Alausa, the minister of education, will lead discussions on the achievements, reforms and challenges in Nigeria’s education sector under the administration of President Bola Tinubu at the 2026 education summit organised by the Education Correspondents Association of Nigeria (ECAN).
The summit, scheduled for July 15 at the Barcelona Hotel in Wuse II, Abuja, is themed, “Three years of the Tinubu administration: Assessing reforms, progress, and challenges in Nigeria’s education sector.”
In a statement issued on Monday, ECAN said the summit would bring together policymakers, education experts, academics, development partners and media professionals to evaluate the impact of the Tinubu administration’s education reforms and identify strategies for addressing the sector’s remaining challenges.
The association, the umbrella body of accredited journalists covering the education sector across print, broadcast and online media platforms, said the event would provide a platform for policy dialogue on key issues affecting education in the country.
Chux Ukwuatu, ECAN chairman, said the summit would also recognise individuals and institutions that have made significant contributions to advancing education in Nigeria.
According to the statement, Alausa will declare the summit open, while participants are expected from government institutions, education agencies, academia, development partners, school administrators, researchers, civil society organisations, student bodies and the media.
The association said awards would be presented to outstanding personalities in recognition of their leadership and contributions to educational development and human capital advancement.
